This heat mat is highly efficient and provides a gentle source of background heat for your tortoise. It produces a ultra-long wavelength infra-red heat and is made from the highest quality woven type mat which is now a well tried and consistently proven technology for providing heat to reptiles in many different applications.
It must be used with a thermostat to ensure temperatures are kept within the safe ranges for your tortoise.
The heat mat is adhesive and easy to install (you may need to cut away the backing paper once peeled back). It needs to be positioned out of reach of your tortoise (e.g. on the underside of the lid in the “bedroom” area of the tortoise table).
The heat mat works well to keep overnight temperatures in the safe ranges (providing background heat in the room where the tortoise table is kept is adequate).
Please always check temperatures are within the safe ranges before introducing a tortoise to it’s new home. Temperatures must also be checked regularly, and we recommend this is included in your daily routine made easy by using one of our min/max thermometers.
Heat mat measurements are approximate and provided for guidance only. They are measured from the outer edge of the plastic mounting the heat mat for ease of installation – actual heat mat dimensions are approximately 2”(L)x1”(W) smaller than dimensions listed to account for the plastic mounting of the heat pack.
