A great DIY incubator for incubating tortoise eggs. This kit is ideal for anyone wanting a simple, easy-to-use incubator to hatch tortoise or other reptile eggs. It is great for beginners who want to try incubating eggs for the first time as well as experienced breeders, or for those that want a spare incubator handy for the breeding season, or for those of you who need an extra incubator quickly running or want to keep species separate, then this is the incubator for you. These incubators are a firm favourite with us here at HappyTortoises and we have used these for many years.

It comes in 2 sizes:

1) SMALL DIY INCUBATOR KIT

The SMALL kit contains the following

  • 1x polystyrene box

    • Internal measurements:. 26.5cm x 17.0cm x 17.8cm.

    • The walls of the poly box are a cosy 2cm thick and will provide the extra insulation to help keep the heat in

    • There are 6 air holes (3 each side of the lid) to allow for air flow - see instructions supplied with kit for further details

    • This can fit up to 2x 1.3L tubs (without the water bottles)

  • 1x heat mat

  • 1x mat stat thermostat

  • 1x water dish (diameter 7.5cm)

  • 1x cooling rack (23cm x 16.8cm x 1.4cm)

  • 1x 1.3L braplast tub (colour may vary from image) - dimensions 17cm(L) x 11cm(W) x 7.5cm(H)

  • 1x 100g bag of fine vermiculite

  • instructions on how to set up, temperature test and monitor

2) LARGE DIY INCUBATOR (34L)

The LARGE kit contains the following

  • 1x polystyrene box

    • Internal measurements:. 42cm x 32cm x 25cm

    • The walls of the poly box are a cosy 2cm thick and will provide the extra insulation to help keep the heat in

    • There are 6 air holes (3 each side of the lid) to allow for air flow - see instructions supplied with kit for further details

    • This can fit up to 10x 1.3L braplast tubs

  • 1x heat mat

  • 1x mat stat thermostat

  • 1x water dish (diameter 7.5cm)

  • 1x cooling rack (40cm x 25cm x 1.3cm)

  • 1x 3.0L braplast tub (colour may vary from image) - dimensions 24.5cm x 18.5cm x 7.5cm

  • 1x 1.3L braplast tub (colour may vary from image) - dimensions 17cm(L) x 11cm(W) x 7.5cm(H)

  • 2x 100g bags of fine vermiculite

  • instructions on how to set up, temperature test and monitor

Additional items you may find useful are:

  • digital thermometer (this is essential for success and can be purchased separately from the drop-down)

  • recycled water/drink bottles to fill up empty space in the incubator for efficiency

Note: We are not liable for any issues with hatching success rate, temperatures issues as a result of not testing properly.

This can be re-used many times. It is advisable to dispose of vermiculite responsibly when finished with - (tip - try adding a thin layer to pot plants outside of your tortoise enclosure to help keep moist)
